Saturday 8 to Monday 10 July 2017 Paris

Say our goodbyes to all who are not joining us in Paris. Trev and Moira are staying in Amsterdam for another night. Sad to leave them behind had a great time catching up.

Catch the high speed train from the Amsterdam Train Station to the Paris Gare de Nord. A good 3 and half hour and we’re in Paris France.

Unfortunately our driver hasn’t arrived yet so there’s an half hour wait. And it hot, sticky and noisy in the station.

We arrive at our hotel but our luggage will be arriving with those who were on the bus in about 3 hours time.

Beautiful hotel, with a lot of beautiful people.

Had a light tea in the Purple Bar. 1 Club Sandwich, Fried Prawns and Wedges, Coke, Sprite and black coffee. €74.00 ($100.00). It’s only money.

Early night, it’s been a long day.

Sunday 9 July 2017

Didn’t sleep all that well maybe cos the room doesn’t move, not that the ship moved much.

It’s really important to Dea that we attend Moulin Rouge tonight so we are going to spend most of the day in our room.

Moulin Rouge was as good as the last time we were here. Although most of the acts were the same it was still an exciting and fast paced show. The meal was good with a few glasses of champagne. The seating is very squeezy for someone with a larger girth but we would still recommend everyone sees this show if you come to Paris.

After the show it was raining outside but fortunately there is enough shelter for those who have to wait for their bus to appear.

Monday 10 July 2017

Today we are going to do some shopping at Galeries Lafayette. Caught a taxi which dropped us off in front of the store at about 10 o’clock.

We went looking for some dresses for our granddaughter Lily. Wow some of the prices are a little extravagant . She’s only 5 and special to us but with dresses by Dior at €350 she’s not that special. We eventually found a couple of nice dresses closer to a reasonable price.

The Lafayette doesn’t appear to be as impressive as the last time we were here. It’s just a up market department store. A bit like Myers or David Jones in Adelaide.

This evening the Phil Hoffman group, including us, are off to Champagne testing.

Interesting couple of hours, well an hour as it took 30 minutes to get there and back as the traffic was pretty bad. Learnt the history and the production process that makes champagne, Champagne. And we got to taste some very good champagne, not just sips but whole glasses.

Remembered to ring my Dad today as tomorrow is his 86th birthday and we’re heading home tomorrow.
