Wednesday 28 June 2017 Dërnstein

Arise just in time to for the ship to dock in Durnstein, Austria. After breakfast we catch a little train up to the township via the vineyards.

Our transport to town
or by bike

Quaint little village with some wonderful views of the Wachau valley. Apparently Richard the Lionheart was held prisoner here on his way home from the crusades and held for ransom.

Caught the little train back to the ship and an early lunch as some of the guests are going to ride pushbikes to the next stop Melk, some 30 km away. We decided to give the Melk bike ride a miss.

Saw the bike riders twice on the way to Melk.
