Sunday 28 to Tuesday 30 May 2017 Singapore

Day 2 and we’re up early. Breakfast is in the hotel at the Swiss Cafe. An American Buffet breakfast. There is everything here from cereal to smoked salmon to curry.

Everybody is so nice and attentive and most speak very good English.

Decided to do the City Sightseeing Bus tour, but we were convinced to do a ‘better’ one. The city tour.

Should stick to what you know as we’ve always used the Sightseeing bus. The City  bus was okay just not as nice.

Two different laps of Singapore Heritage and City, a little over an hour each (without getting off). Great sights of the city. Singapore is well organised (controlled) and very clean. The people are polite and respectful. Don’t do chewing gum, you will be approached by police. A lot of security, police and army in town as they are setting up for the F1.

We got off at the Garden by the Bay. A must for all visitors to Singapore. Tour busses just keep on arriving but there never seemed to be a lot of people around, a testament to the designers of this park.

Gardens by the Bay

We’ll certainly be back here on our return journey.

When we finished the City tour we headed for the Raffles Hotel.
A very posh place with a long sweeping driveway with beautiful flowers. Most of the hotel accommodation is be refurbished but one is still allowed into the foyer and the billiards room. (anyone notice the royal use of one, that’s how this place makes one feel.)
Off to the billiard room for a Singapore Sling.

One actually enjoyed the Singapore Sling, One is not a fan of Gin but in a sling it was nice. A large packet of peanuts is provide on each table for one to enjoy and one is encouraged to throw the shells on the floor. A fairly expensive drink for the masses to enjoy at S$31.00 each.

Back to the hotel for lunch and a quiet afternoon in preparation for the flight to Rome. The flight leaves at 1:20am, our driver will be picking us up at 10:30pm.

Had tea at the MarketPlace that’s part of the Hotel complex and then off to the room and pack.

Arrived at the airport about 11pm and after checking in was led to the Kris Flyers lounge to wait. Plenty of free food and drink.

Dea ready for the flight to Rome

On the flight to Rome, only 12 1/2 hours away. We slept quite a bit of it. The seats do convert to a bed but we found it more comfortable to just recline the seats. The beds looked hard and not designed for someone my ‘height’.
